Alina was born to a family of Roma/Gypsies in Romania and overcame tremendous hardships to achieve her current status, as a 2009 graduate of the Drama School in The National University for Performing Arts in Bucharest, Romania. In the 2009 spring semester Alina studied at The Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. The American experience was for Alina a real eye-opener to methods and information unavailable in Romanian drama schools. In summer 2010, she played Marina in UK's Parabbola production of "Pericles, Prince of Tyre," for the Gdansk Shakespeare Festival, in Poland, under the direction of Philip Parr.
In spring 2011, Alina premiered her one-woman show based on her life story as a Roma child facing poverty and discrimination in Romania, and received positive coverage from AFP, AP and domestic media. In the fall of 2011 she will go study at postgraduate level at the Royal Academy for Dramatic Art, in London.
